  1. Engage the energy of the pro-life community

The sum of the passion and energy of the pro-life community could be a primary driving force for the re-establishment of Republicans as the dominant political party. Many other policies and philosophies, as suggested by others here, are certainly important But for sheer power, nothing will match the depth and intensity of the pro-life community. For the Democrats, it's just a matter of getting elected; For us, it's a matter of life and death.

    • Run as a 'team' ie. Romney/Jindal.

I think if we field a 'team' from the git go. Romney/Jindal. that way, we avoid the problems with having a hail Mary surprise like Palin. She tanked McCain even farther then he was. Folks with braincells did not take a shine to her at all.

      • A 435 district strategy

We don't need a 50-state strategy. We need a 435 district strategy. Whether a safe or longshot seat, we need professionally-run campaigns with real candidates everywhere. This will allow us to maximize pickup opportunities against complacent Democrats. It will also help identify promising young leaders for future advancement elsewhere in the party. Also, we need to encourage repeat candidates -- not a win-at-all-costs mentality. Winning second time candidates received just 42% of the vote their first time out.

        • Train a 25,000-strong nationwide campaign force

We need campaigns in all 435 districts and a strong focus on state legislatures. To run them, we'll need an army of sophisticated grassroots activists at the local level -- people who know how to run GOTV locally, who know how to cut turnout universes, and who know how to integrate the Internet into their campaigns.

          • Embrace the new fundraising model

Over 50% of our nominee's money in 2012 comes in online. Stop recruiting candidates based on ability to raise money alone, and focus on inspiring candidates with a message that will inspire people to give money... and most importantly, volunteer time and votes!

            • A permanent, 24/7/365 volunteer organization

We need a GOTV operation that's more than robocalls and shortchanges personal door-to-door contact in local communities. We need to build a self-organizing capacity so that millions of our activists can organize and connect with each other, even in off-years, without having to go through party staff.

              • Open up our technology ecosystem

Qualified developers should be able to compete to build applications that help the GOP -- with the good ones being adopted by the RNC. We should look to Silicon Valley and other tech innovations from the private sector, not just those from the political arena.

                • Launch a drive to increase support for social conservatism

Some - clearly including a few of those on this site - would like nothing more than for the Republican party to abandon social conservatism in the name of a hands-off libertarian strategy that says "I don't care what you do, just don't bother me". While this sounds to many like paradise, it is in fact a dangerous strategy that would set the GOP and America itself on the road to an early death.

Social Conservatism, with strong families, support for life, and a firm committment to traditional values is essential to America's survival. Weak homes - the result of…

                  • Redefine Party Lines

Far too long we have muddied the clear line of our party in trying to "reach across the aisle." So much so now that people don't know what it means to be a Republican. We need to get back to our party's base of smaller government and fewer taxes. We need to prove to the people of America that we are not a confused, contradicting party, but a clear and definite solution for the problems America faces. Clean out the wish-washy Republicans and elect some strong Conservatives.

                    • Accept that Republicans can disagree with one another

Democrats gained around 14 House seats this election. Moderate Tom Davis (R-VA) resigned and gave up his seat when the state party redesigned its senate nominating process so that he couldn't win. Wayne Gilchrist was primaried out of a seat, with the less moderate Andy Harris running instead. The Democrat, Frank Katovli, now looks to have won the general election there.

Booting out moderates is a very good way to become a minority party very quickly and it needs to stop.

                      • Stop "Reaching Across the Aisle" to pass Big Spending Bills

If you think the Dems are crazy Socialists, then why are you so eager to create legislation with them?

We need fewer spending bills, if you're more worried about looking "mean" than sticking to principles, then say no to Pelosi with a smile. I'm glad the election's over, because I couldn't take anymore of McCain congratulating himself up for working with liberals like Russ Feingold and Ted Kennedy.

                        • Come up with new solutions....

...that are still based on conservative principles. The world is a different place than it was in 1968 or 1976-80. The same principles apply- people are still fallible, gov't even more so, so liberty is essential, but we can't keep forcing every candidate to parrot Reagan's lines. We don't look at every new writer and size them up by asking, "Are they the new Buckley?" so lets quit doing with candidates. Look to people like Jim Manzi for these kind of ideas: http://www.slate.com/id/2203800/entry/2203801/

                          • be thinking about solutions, not about winning.

Conservatives have a lot to contribute to bi-partisan and post-partisan solutions for real problems that the country is facing. Republicans want less government; Democrats want better government. There's a meeting place for the two that we can call SMARTER government - but neither side can accomplish that alone.

                            • say "Thanks, but No Thanks" to the AARP

as a strong supporter of limited government, there was one issue that pushed me away from this party - the massive Medicare Drug plan, it made me long for the days of Clinton's welfare reform

you have no basis to call Obama a Socialist while Bush/Hastert/Frist redistributed my future tax dollars to current Medicare recipients

Like the AFL-CIO, the AARP should be tossed aside as another group advancing a socialist agenda that Republicans should just tune out

Can you think of a single issue -- and this is to cast light for people who are just trying to get to know you in your final debate, your only debate of this year -- can you think of a single issue, policy issue, in which you were forced to change a long-held view in order to accommodate changed circumstances?

                                • Promote 21st century workers self-reliance

most young workers today having nothing in common with the 1970s union agenda coming from the Dems, those of us under 40 are more likely to be self-employed, to have only a defined-contribution pension, and ultimately believe we need to look after ourselves, and not leave our well-being to a big corporation, big union, or big government program like Medicare, which Bush expanded massively with Part D

moreover, the share of workers employed by Fortune 500s has fallen dramatically since the early 80s, and promoting small business growth is becoming more important to promoting job growth

                                  promoting self-reliance will appeal…

                                  • Reach out to more Christians

The Republican Party allows Democrats to play on the environmental and help-the-poor aspects of Christianity and attract a TON of Christians, especially Catholics. The Republican Party should emphasize to Christians of all parties that Democrats and their pro-choice, no personal responsibility stances are not Christian and that instead the Republican Party takes positive stances on helping those who need help but taking responsibility for yourself, having a strong value for life at all stages, and having environmental concerns while not going over the top. Christians need to realize that the Democratic stance is almost entirely un-Christian.

                                    • Study our history

Make a serious study of Eisenhower, Nixon, and Reagan Republicanism. What defined their ideas as republican? How did they approach the issues people care about today? Can we adopt anything from these approaches?

                                      • Make being Republican "cool" and "progressive"

We are slapped with too many stereotypes and have been defeated by a social movement. It is NOT socially acceptable to be young, educated, urban and Republican. If the party is going to succeed, that HAS to change. Build an exciting, inspiring and charismatic party that captures young hearts and minds and reminds them why it's "cool" to be Republican and people can proudly say we are Republican AND educated AND informed AND caring AND diverse AND forward-thinking.

                                        • The image in public minds

The image in public minds that this is the party for the "rich white folks" or people in "Archie Bunker mode" need to be challenged and fought. GOP had been seriously lacking PR means to reverse this image. It has only grown with our party’s recent challenge of W's comprehensive immigration reform for which bigotry and racial exclusion surfaced. We need to do something drastically, without compromising our moral and free market ideals, to make the public aware of our party's intent for racial inclusion. Or, I'm afraid it’s only a matter of time for Hispanic Americans to vote “monolithically”…
