Make being Republican "cool" and "progressive"

We are slapped with too many stereotypes and have been defeated by a social movement. It is NOT socially acceptable to be young, educated, urban and Republican. If the party is going to succeed, that HAS to change. Build an exciting, inspiring and charismatic party that captures young hearts a... more

  1. This should be easy considering how much fun it is to be angry, scared, and intolerant all at the same time! Palin 2012!

  2. Way to lose the base, sparky.

  3. Republicans cool and progressive? ROFLOL Its the party of near dead bigots

  4. There are young people out there who believe in individual responsibility and aren't looking for the candidate who will give them something for nothing? I don't want a sell-out like Bush, McCain or any Republican who voted to enslave me and my children by supporting the bail-out. Charisma and hand-outs don't interest me. Unfortunately the GOP think hand-outs are popular. to young and old alike.

  5. Conservatism, Liberty and the Constitution are popular ideas. However our leaders are not following these ideas. Who has taken us into war in the past? Dems. But we are viewed as war mongers. We're supposed to be fiscally conservative, but we're not. Our leaders overlook the Constitution on a regular basis. Bush is working hand in hand with Pelosi on bail-outs. What's really going on?

  6. I'm 27. The young vote is important but we don't need to adopt the progressive ideas coming out of schools. Hillary Clinton said that she defines socialism as progressivism. If you want to be progressive you should be a Democrat. I'm tired of my Reps "reaching across the aisle" on things I don't believe in and, honestly, strip us of our Liberty.

  7. We don't need the kids. We can vote for Sarah perfectly well without them! They just make fun of us anyway.

  8. Yes! We will be known by our soul patches! The party of soul patches!!

The kids will find us irresistible.

  9. The current negative reputation of the Republican Party is well deserved however I don't believe it has any relationship with the roots of the party which advocate limited government, low taxes, and civil liberties. This is the reason why so many young people, military, minorities, and other diverse groups of individuals came out in support of Ron Paul. You need a change of direction not a gimic!

  10. This is a great idea for marketing the next video game. It is not how you sell ideas.

  11. As long as the Republican party has WAR as the primary agenda (show me one candidate for federal office who opposes the Bush doctrine) it won't be "cool" or "progressive". It will be "loser". The party of fear and hate is not cool no matter which PR firm you hire.

  12. i got another great idea!
Tap into the lucrative hip- hop music scene to make conservatism fashionable.
if we cant get big names like Z-Jay or 60 cents, perhaps Mc Karl Rove can do it.
    like he does here.>>>http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ln5RD9BhcCo

  13. You can't sell toxic waste simply by calling it a strawberry sundae. The fundamental product (and I mean that in both senses) is bad. Get the Melamine out of the GOP platform and maybe more people will buy it. Otherwise you are just putting, what is it they say? Lipstick on a pig. That's it.

  14. dudes some day paisley and bell-bottoms will be back in fashion, mine are hanging in the closet because I'm forward thinking and progressive. This is foolish because it’s dealing with the difference between perceptions, and not substance. How people perceive you is on them, I will say the party does need to better define itself.

  15. Among educated, high voter-propensity youth, "cool" is about global community and green policies. The reality is that conservatives principles need to be reconciled with that. I do not think they are mutually exclusive. After all, conservative and conservation are derived from the same word.

  16. It's sad that the phrase, "With age comes wisdom" seems to no longer be accepted thought. Of course, young people always believe they are incredibly smart and enlightened. So much do they believe this, that, against all better advice, they repeat the very mistakes of their elders because they believe it "won't happen to me." RESPECT YOUR ELDERS, YOU WHIPPER-SNAPPERS!!! I'm 34, by the way.

  17. Somehow, one would expect those who comment here to actually know about that of which they speak. Apparently, that is entirely too much for which to hope.

  18. The Fonz would be an awesome candidate.

  19. During the fall of the Roman empire, the people of the day thought that they were "cool and progressive".

  20. What the party needs is young republicans running for president that are creismatic and knowledgeable about the issues. People get turned off when they see a bunch of old men trying to run for the party.
