do a better job in Black and Latino communities

I'm a Black conservative/republican. 95% of Blacks vote Democrat and 60% of Latinos. Those stats are RIDICULOUS. There is no way America can become this multicultural and our party not have a plan.

In order to combat this left-wing rhetoric, we must develop an inclusive message that reaches into the AA community. We need to present our ideas in a clear, straight forward manner, so that the AA community can see for themsevles that they agree with us more often that they disagree. As we've seen over the past few weeks, liberals have no qualms about scapegoating blacks, this is our opportunity.

As an American who happens to be black, I can honestly say that contrary to popular belief, there is a significant portion of the AA population who hold conservative beliefs but fail to realize that they are indeed conservatives. They believe that the GOP is anti-black, largely because this is the kind of propoganda that the left feeds them.

  3. Blacks and Mexicans are not now, nor will they *ever* be constituents. One thing that will help the GOP tremendously is a trip back to basic Marketing 101. Find your core markets, and go after them. Once you have them, then expand your core market by enticing *likely* prospects. And to those that talk about Lincoln -- that was about economics, as was the Boston Tea Party. Get some real history.

  4. The message of individual liberty appeals to all people regardless of race. If we embrace that message, we will increase our support in every ethnic group. Just look at the diversity of the R3volution movement. Ron Paul is on to something there.

  5. NRO rebukes you!

  6. boo_laia - I understand your point - but Bush did push the ownership society, voucher systems, etc...and was flat out rejected at every turn, even though he had the most diverse cabinets in history. The Democrats have locked up the "race vote" much to my sore disappointment, I suspect it will take a major let down in the next couple of years to change things.

I agree this needs to happen, but the focus cannot be Lincoln, or on how Democrat policies have hurt minorities. I have tried these things in Philadelphia, it's useless. Instead, local parties in major cities need to be rebuilt. This can only be done by recruiting in those cities and then give responsibility to those who have been recruited (ward leaders, block captains) Think outside the box too

Cuban are die hard conservatives, they always vote Republican and are very politically connected, especially in Florida. Blacks and other Hispanics are very traditional and church going people, CLUE : Prop 8 in California. We have got to build on this. We have a lot of common with these people, let's reach out to them!!!

  10. Disgree. Black folks have no place in the Trucknutz/Palin party.

  12. Lost causes. Better to focus on Asian- and Indian-Americans.

  13. We tried and Colin Powell stabbed us in the back, and he is the one that started the war in Iraq, ditto for Lynn Swann, Micheal Steele, Ken Blackwell, we should reach out to more working class whites, since for the time being they gave Ohio, Florida, Penn to BHO.

thegypsy -- Take heart, there are plenty of people in this forum who are only hear to make things difficult for those of us who want to have a real discussion. Flagwaver is one of them, but not the only one. He's probably from dailykos and wants to be assert a false picture of the GOP.

I feel the GOP gets labeled racist because we don't talk about race and challenge the Dems narrative.

The latino community is a different ball of wax from the black community. There is really no reason that the GOP cannot be competitive and own that demographic. The false assumption is that latinos in large part voted for Obama because he is a minority. Generally, it was because he represented a world view and openness to other cultures and that trumped their differences in viewpoints.

We are not presenting a counter narrative to just government handouts. It's natural for the demographic who highly values individual expression to gravitate towards individual freedoms and entrepreneurship. It rings hollow that the expectation is that they require handouts and they don't have ability to do things themselves. We can't be afraid to engage in the conversation.

janish64 -- I'm against 'token' candidates. We need good candidates who can relate. Do to my previous work, I've been in homes of blacks and latinos throughout the South East. I can say easily that many minorities have much to common with the RNC, but they don't know it. An effort needs to be underway to make in-roads at the local level in local communities.

  18. I know! Let's start referring to Americans as ...
    Americans.
I am an American who is of Irish descent. I am mostly sober on Tuesdays... Wait, nevermind that last part.
    .
The elites (yes, I know it's bad to call them elites because that makes us seem stupid) have hyphenated America and segregated her back into the Jim Crow subgroups again.
    .
Enough! REAL conservatism works for all! Reagan!!!

  19. Lets introduce the word BLATRINO for synergy.
This will combine the two sub-groups into one new super Republican Acquisition Placement, or "RAP." This acronym will also help attract the new subgroup.
    .
Also, BLATRINO rhymes with Neutrino, giving it extra synergistic and physics (or, "phynergistic"") energy that will resonate in the urban areas.

  20. Maybe the GOP should focus on establishing a sound consertive platform of personal freedom, smaller government and stop treating Blacks, Latinos or others as special groups. I believe most Americans are tired of focus groups or special interest groups. We all want a level playing field and the government off our backs. We are all Americans, stop treating us different.
